I love make-up. Fact. I could probably spend a whole day in Selfridge’s trying out the newest and greatest offerings from all of the beauty houses. I am like a magpie; drawn to anything shiny and pretty. It is not just the beautiful packaging and breathtaking counter-top displays that stop me in my stride, but also the whole experience of trying something new and being transported, albeit momentarily into the land of all that is beautiful.
During a recent shopping trip to London, I stumbled across the Pixi By Petra’s Flagship store in Soho and simply had to pop in. As a huge fan of their make-up, I was keen to see what the flagship store would have to offer.
I am a huge believer in the fact that primer is a must for all who wear make-up. Especially for those of us who have ridiculously long days and want to make it to the end of the day without looking like Freddie Kruger. I love Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer so had to pick some of this up. It smells wonderful and keeps my make-up in place. Being someone that has larger pores, this primer really helps to give my foundation that smooth finish I am after.
I also absolutely love the Rose Oil, from their skincare collection. We are all aware that facial oils are huge right now, and this one from Pixi feels like a facial in a bottle. Its sweet smell and luxurious texture are the perfect finish to my evening skincare routine. I often have breakouts and patchy skin and this really helps to re-invigorate my skin. I cannot recommend it enough!
As you can probably tell from my pictures, I have extremely bushy brows. I try to tame these as much as possible, through frequent visits to the Brow Bar and intermittent preening, but they grow at alarming speed! I am fortunate that this is on trend right now, (flashback to the early 2000’s, I was one seriously unfortunate teenager!) I have struggled for some time in finding a brow palette that fits my eyebrow colour. They are extremely dark, but so many of the pencils I have tried seem to have a reddish tone to them, leaving an un-natural looking set of brows. I’ve tried a lot of powder sets for brows, but find that they are either too pigmented, or not pigmented enough.
When I stumbled across the Pixi Brow Powder Palette set, I was transported to brow-heaven. There are 6 shades in total to shape, sculpt, fill and highlight my brows. You only need a little to get the natural finish we all want. A small highlight under the brows gives that really defined arch.
If you are ever in London stop by!
